Jeanfield secure a high-five

CAMELON.........................................2 JEANFIELD SWIFTS.........................5 Jeanfield Swifts continued their return to league form by tasting victory on the road against Camelon at the weekend.

The Perth side trailed by one at the interval in this East of Scotland League Premier Division fixture but wasted little time in levelling early in the second half.

Connor McLaren found the back of the net with a low free-kick from the edge of the box.

McLaren doubled his tally to give Swifts the lead, this time from the penalty spot following a decision which saw Camelon reduced to 10 men.

The determined hosts soon tied the game at 2-2 before defender Jake Dolzanski took centre-stage by scoring twice.

Chris Dodd rounded off the scoring to ensure that the points were returning to the Fair City.

“Performance-wise we were a little slow to get going which is understandable given the highs of the previous game,”said manager Ross Gunnion.

“However, once we shook off the hangover and came out for the second half we were excellent all over the park. The intensity of our play, pace of attack and ultimately our finishing was very good to see.”

Dolzanski’s double was a pleasing watch for the Swifts boss.

He said:“Jake was very deserving of his two goals. He’s a leader and shows an example to others with his attitude and commitment, not to mention having a huge amount of ability.

“He’s always a danger at set pieces and was very unlucky not to get a hat-trick.”

Swifts, ninth in the Premier Division, now welcome Crossgates to the Riverside for more league action tomorrow evening.

“We are building a little bit of momentum now but this league is incredibly tough,”Gunnion told the Perthshire Advertiser.

“Any given day can see any team get a win and we have to set ourselves up for another challenge.

“Crossgates conceded three penalties against us in the last game so will be well aware of where they need to improve and I’m sure their manager will have worked on that.

“I expect a tough game again but as always I expect us to rise to the challenge and win.”

In the Conference B on Saturday, Kinnoull continued their strong season with a 4-0 home win against Burntisland Shipyard. It comes as no surprise to report that striker Rhys Davies netted another hat-trick. Rab Kinnaird was also on the scoresheet.

Luncarty made the long trip down to Hawick Royal Albert United and returned with a point following a 1-1 draw.

Midfielder Kyle Green came off the bench and netted the equaliser for the Bleachers in the 79th minute of the match.
