All-star squad for Team Talk nights
St Johnstone supporters are in for a treat at Perth Theatre this autumn.
An all-star squad of fans, players, managers and club legends will take to the stage for exclusive Team Talk Live evenings.
Hosted by fellow Saintee and broadcaster Stuart Cosgrove, a number of dates will offer up a feast of stories and memories.
Kick- off is Friday, October 22 in the Joan Knight Studio when Ormond Boys John Connolly, Henry Hall and Gordon Whitelaw will relive some of the triumphant wins they achieved during the golden years of Muirton Park under Willie Ormond.
Sports broadcaster Eilidh Barbour will share her memories of growing up as a St Johnstone fan and how this influenced her own career in sport on Monday, October 25.
Former MSP Aileen Campbell, now CEO of Scottish Women’s Football, then teams up with former St Johnstone WFC captain Jade Greenshields to discuss the rise and power in the women’s game on Friday, October 29.
On Friday, November 5, fans can hear from St Johnstone historian Alastair Blair about creating the books ‘ Manifest Destiny’ and ‘ Hagiography’, and choosing the all- time best Saint, as well as his own fan memories.
The action continues on Friday, November 12 with everyone’s favourite football podcasters. Sam Miller and Danny Williams of the Dogger Saints podcast will be in the house to reveal their favourite games and guests. And before the full-time whistle sounds, on Wednesday, November 17 Scottish Cup-winning trio Steven Anderson, Chris Millar and Frazer Wright will discuss their career highs and lows and, of course, that unforgettable day in 2014.
Katie Mitchell, outreach producer for Perth Theatre, said: “Back in the spring we were only able to offer this online, so it will be great to have Saints fans in our building together to share stories and memories of what it means to be a Saintee.
“It’s been such a fantastic year for the club and we are so pleased that so many St Johnstone fans such as Eilidh Barbour and Stuart Cosgrove will be joining us but also equally excited to hear from ex-players such as Steven Anderson, Henry Hall and
John Connolly. It’s going to be a great few nights.”
Team Talk is part of Saintees on Stage - Perth Theatre and St Johnstone FC’s project to create a high-quality, mainstage production about the club and its fans.
Written by local playwright and football fan Martin McCormick, the production will be a collaboration between professional artists and the local community and will appear on the Perth Theatre stage in the summer of 2022.
