Permission is sought for new golf academy at country estate

-

The owners of a country estate near Scone have applied for permission to enhance its facilities for golfers looking to improve their game.

Stellar Murrayshall LLP of the Murrayshall Estate have filed a planning application with the local authority seeking consent to relocate its golf driving range, create a new golf academy and divert a core path to suit the proposals.

The application comes six months after the owners of the Murrayshall Country House Hotel caused a stir among locals by applying for permission to add dozens more rooms and site 40 self-catering lodges plus another 25 tree houses or glamping pods within its grounds.

That application, which is still awaiting a decision from council officials, drew 170 objections during a consultation after residents noticed the proposed expansion also involved the creation of what architects termed as an “enabling development of new build residential homes”.

Many objectors pointed out to PKC the proposal in its entirety would infringe on green belt land and appeared to breach council policy as did Scone and District Community and the Perth and Kinross Green Party.

Now a new document drawn up by architects to support the proposed relocation of the resort’s driving range says rebuilding it in another area will provide “a more appropriate landscape setting” for the facility.

It says: “A simple semi- open structure will provide 15 standard bays with two golf academy teaching bays.”

There would also be a pro-shop providing services and goods to complete the facility.
