Big support for animal antics

A host of Perth and Kinross businesses have given their backing to a competitio­n to find the region’s most perfect pet have spoken of their pride at being involved.

The PA reported last week that St Johns Rotary Club had launched a virtual pet show in conjunctio­n Kippen Campbell and a host of other businesses who are sponsoring various categories.

Entries are now open for the Perfect Pets contest and solicitors Kippen Campbell is delighted to get involved.

A spokespers­on for the firm, which as well as being the main sponsor is also backing the ‘ Best in Show’ award, said: “The virtual pet show is such a fun idea, and will hopefully lift the spirits of everyone involved as we emerge from lockdown, as well as providing much-needed funds to the chosen charities.”

Third generation Perthshire family firm Bannerman Decorators is sponsoring the ‘Lookalikes’ category.

Partner Ewan Bannerman had no hesitation in backing the fundraiser, saying: “As a Rotarian myself, I know how much great work the local clubs do for charitable causes and imaginativ­e fundraisin­g efforts like this are more vital than ever, given what we have all been through over the past year.”

Carbon Financial Partners, which is sponsoring the ‘ Best Buddies’ category, is celebratin­g their 10th anniversar­y in new Perth offices.

Managing director Gordon Wilson said: “Carbon is delighted to support the Rotarians’ imaginativ­e fundraiser. We know how valuable their work is in supporting deserving charities at the local, national and internatio­nal level.”

Dicksons of Perth is a caravan and motorhome dealership based on the stretch of the Dunkeld Road, known as the ‘ Motor Mile’. This animal- loving family is sponsoring the ‘ Beautiful Baby’category’.

Specialist cont racting company The Fraser Bruce Group is sponsoring the ‘Farmyard Friend’ category. MD Fraser Bruce said: “We’re delighted to support the

Rotary in its innovative pet show and help raise funds to support animals as they have supported all of us throughout lockdown. Hopefully the ‘Farmyard Friend’ category will encourage farmers and smallholde­rs to take part.”

The GS Group, celebratin­g its 30th anniversar­y, is backing the ‘Bad Hair Day’ category.

“It is admirable that the Rotary Club of Perth St Johns decided to think outside the box with their fundraisin­g,” said managing director George Stubbs.

“And as everyone likes a shaggy dog story, we decided to support the ‘Bad Hair Day’ category!”

The ‘Sleeping Beauty’ category is being sponsored by Kilmac.

Athole McDonald, who establishe­d the business with Richard Kilcullen 17 years ago, said: “I know how generous Perth people are and I’ve no doubt they will back the Rotary club’s latest fundraiser.”

Merlin ERD is an independen­t drilling engineerin­g consultanc­y.

Technical developmen­t director Stewart McGregor said: “We are looking forward to seeing the ‘Wild and Exotic’ pets. There’s no doubt this category will bring some very entertaini­ng entries. Best of luck to all involved.”

Thrums Vet Group is a long establishe­d veterinary practice with its history dating back to the 1950s.

A spokespers­on said: “We wish Perth St Johns Rotary all the best with their virtual pet show and we are proud to support them and the great work they do. Thank you for asking us to get involved.”

Thrums Vet Group is sponsoring the ‘Star Quality’ category.

The competitio­n is also backing two charities - People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) and Send A Cow.
