Coupar are on the up
Coupar Angus manager Lindsay Cruickshank is urging his players to build on a positive result against Downfield.
The Foxhall Park side, who sit second bottom of the Midlands League in the Junior ranks, earned a 1-1 draw on home soil last Saturday.
Chris Tracey had given Coupar the lead with a well-placed free-kick in the first half and, while Dundee Downfield netted a leveller, positives were aplenty.
Cruickshank was pleased with what he saw and said:“We’ve been starting to get things together and on Saturday it was a lot better.
“We hit the bar, the post and we maybe even could have won the game. There were chances for both sides.
“The boys are getting a bit of belief now and are starting to play together.
“But there is no point in backtracking again so I’m hoping the positive result against Downfield will kick them on a bit.
“We’ll see what happens tomorrow because we know that will be tough.”
That game will see Coupar Angus take on 15th-placed Arbroath Vics at Foxhall Park.
“For me, I tell the boys that I don’t really bother about other teams,”said Cruickshank. “I’m not bothered who we are playing.
“If it’s Lochee United or Arbroath Vics, I don’t care. It’s just about us performing.”
Elsewhere in the Midlands League tomorrow, Scone Thistle welcome Blairgowrie to Farquharson Park for a Perthshire derby.
The Jags, who are continuing to operate with a relatively young squad and lost out to Forfar West End last Saturday, welcome a Blair side just off the back of a hard-fought 2-1 win against Brechin Vics.
