Applications still open to join Perthshire on a Plate line-up

-

Applications are still open to serve up a treat at popular local food and drink festival Perthshire On A Plate (POAP) this summer.

A “stellar line-up” of standholders have already booked their places, but organisers are highlighting that there remains space for more producers and pop-ups.

The event has proved a great success in years gone by and hopes are high that this 2023 offering will be sweeter than ever before.

The celebration of food and drink is run by Perthshire Chamber of Commerce and will take place on Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5 on the South Inch at Perth Show.

It brings together producers to showcase and sell their products as well as providing a platform for local chefs to demonstrate their culinary skills, and local restaurants to showcase with taster dishes in the lovely, covered seating area.

A host of celebrity and superb local chefs have graced the food theatre at POAP over the years, with packed out demonstrations - all proving real crowd-pleasers.

Thousands of visitors to Perth Show enjoy POAP’S full two-day programme of back-to-back cookery demonstrations, producers’ tastings and relaxing in the festival’s popular pop-up dining area, where people can enjoy sample-size portions of meals created by local restaurants.

Now firmly established as a “must attend” event on the local culinary calendar, POAP has a natural crossover to the agricultural industry.

Together, Perth Show and Perthshire On A Plate take visitors “from field to fork, telling the entire food chain story between them.”

They showcase how crops and livestock are grown and reared and how the hard work of the farmers translates to the fine food and drink we all enjoy.

Perthshire Chamber of Commerce chief executive Vicki Unite explained: “As a chamber, we realise the value of our food and drink industry to the local economy and are proud to stage an event which puts it in the spotlight.”

Anyone interested in finding out more about becoming a standholder is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.

Stands cost £150 including VAT for the two days and further information and application forms are available by calling 01738 448325, at www.perthshireonaplate. co.uk or by emailing vicki@ perthshirechamber.co.uk
