Little Pick Me Ups

This tortoise has his owners in a spin…

As we waited at the Highcroft Veterinary Hospital, my threeyear-old daughter, Lena, and I were worried sick. Our pet tortoise, Touche, had been in a nasty accident at home and we had rushed him straight in, so worried.

Lena and Touche are best friends.

She wakes up every morning and wants to play with him, kiss him and feed him. But the vet came out with bad news. ‘I’m afraid Touche has broken his back leg, and it will need to be amputated,’ she said to us gently. Lena was devastated. But luckily, the hospital’s creative staff had something in mind for Touche.
