Marta was mistaken for somebody else, then attacked by a jealous girl in a nightclub
Little black dress? Check! Killer heels? Check! Glass of prosecco? Check! All the ingredients for a good girls’ night out.
It was 15 September last year, and I’d had a job interview.
It was at a currency exchange, and would be a real step on the ladder for me.
I felt sure it’d gone well, and now I was ready for a night out to celebrate with my mate Jess, 21.
My long highlighted hair was curled down my back, my look finished off with a neutral make-up and a sophisticated silver necklace.
All ready for some fun. Our mate was running a special night at a club in Edinburgh, so we’d said we’d go along to support him.
More fizz, dancing. It was a brilliant night. In fact, before I knew it, it was nearly 3am. Home time.
I was standing by the DJ booth when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
Maybe Jess, ready to go home, I thought. Then... SLAM! Something walloped me right in the head.
Before I could think or look round, it happened again. SLAM! SLAM! Two more blows as I fell to the floor, head spinning, my face throbbing.
Everything in the club was a blur as I was helped by some bouncers to the doors at the back.
‘What’s happened?’
I asked woozily.
‘You’ve been hit with a glass,’ they told me.
What the..?
Before I knew it, someone was putting a bandage on my head to stop the blood, and I was being driven to hospital.
There, I was told that I had a large gash in my head. But, amazingly, the glass was so sturdy that it hadn’t smashed.
But still... I could’ve been killed. Or disfigured for life.
In a rage
I realised that I had had the luckiest of escapes... Slowly, as they pieced my skin back together, I found out what had happened. I’d been hit on the head with a glass by a girl I barely knew called Ashley Katsande. Turns out she thought she saw me kissing her ex-boyfriend, came at me in a rage and lunged with the glass. She hit me three times on the head, twice as I fell to the floor, defenceless. One blow was to the side of my head. It could’ve taken out my eye.
I tried to remember her ex... He wasn’t
