Pick Me Up!

Born with A Full Head Of Hair!

Julie’s daughter’s an inspiration

- Julie Dandy, 42, Wigan

Spotting a girl with a charity box, I put in some change. ‘What’s she doing, Mummy?’ my daughter Macey, then 5, said. ‘She’s collecting money for a little boy who’s sick,’ I said. Concerned, Macey made me

ask if she could get involved. Bless her.

Another time, seeing a homeless man sitting on the floor, we dropped money in his hat.

‘Why is he on the floor, Mummy?’ Macey quizzed.

After I explained, she marched me to the cash machine to give him some more!

Macey was an inspiration. Always wanted to help.

Soon she became involved in fundraising for the Braiden-lee Prescott Kids Cancer charity.

Braiden needed to go to the US for neuroblastoma treatment. So Macey started raising money packing bags in supermarkets.

Soon, a woman who worked for pageants in Wigan contacted us, asking if Macey wanted to take part in charity beauty pageants, where entrants compete to raise money. Macey’s first pageant was in 2014. She was shy, hardly had any self-confidence.

But she raised £1,500 – and won Miss Popularity!

Me and her dad Dave,

41, were so proud.

Growing in confidence, last August she competed in Blackpool for Miss Royal UK. And she won!

Crowned Little Miss Sweetheart and Miss Royal UK junior, she also won a chance to compete in America.

Macey will represent the UK at the finals in Florida next July!

Overall, she’s raised £11,000, and isn’t stopping yet. Our girl’s so beautiful – inside and out.
