Pick Me Up!

I Looked Like a Burns Victim

Frances couldn’t hide her rash

- Frances Batten, 33, Somerset

It seemed to come on out of nowhere. In 2015, I noticed red patches on my face. Before long, I also began breaking out in spots.

‘I feel like a teenager,’ I told my doctor.

He prescribed creams, but they didn’t work.

I was referred to a dermatologist and told I had rosacea, a rash affecting the face. It can be triggered by stress.

I was prescribed antibiotics, and the redness and spots cleared up. But, last year, it came back. Only this time, antibiotics didn’t seem to help.

I tried to cover the marks with make-up, but that just made my skin worse.

The spots were really tender, too.

Self-conscious, I hated going out in case people stared at me.

Even doing the school run with my three kids aged 10, 7 and 4 filled me with dread.

I bet other mums are staring at my face, I’d think.

In an attempt to hide the spots on my forehead, I had a full fringe.

But there was no hiding the rash across my cheeks.

I tried hundreds of creams and facial cleansers, but nothing worked.

‘I look like a burns victim,’ I cried to my sister, 40.

She hated seeing me so upset, so she did some research.

Then, last October, she came across kalme.co.uk.

‘They’ve got a skincare range especially for rosacea,’ she said.

They were natural-based products and I had nothing to lose, so I ordered some creams.

And within a week of using them, it seemed that the redness had started to go down.

I’m still using the cream and, although it may not work for everyone, it seems to be keeping my rosacea at bay.

I do still get occasional

patches of redness if I feel stressed or anxious. But it’s more manageable now.

I’ve noticed my confidence has really rocketed, too.

I finally feel like myself again – and it’s skin-credible!

Antibiotics helped at first, but then it came back
