epidural worry

Qi'm about to give birth and an epidural has been suggested. although it sounds great, i’m very nervous about it going into my spine and damaging my nerves.

aEpidurals are very safe, and the risk of any permanent injury is minuscule (one in several million, in fact).

There can be temporary side effects, but these are also not very common.

Lumpy finger

Qi broke my finger years ago and it’s always been out of shape ever since.

But now there seems to be a rubbery lump over it

and, although it’s not painful, it is quite large.

should i be worried?

aThis is called a ganglion, which can arise out of previously damaged joints. It’s a fluid-filled cyst that’s very common. If it’s not causing any pain or problems, it doesn’t need treatment. In fact, if treated it can recur.

Vitamin deficient

Qafter i gave birth, i was tested for vitamin d, and shown to have very low levels.

i’m worried it might have affected my baby’s bones.

aIf your levels are low, then your baby should be assessed as well. Treatment is simple and completely curative. Your baby’s bones, if affected, will return to normal.
