Georgina's son had a cracking idea

-

If he carries on like this, he could make £13,000 a year!

Georgina Warren, 27, Tamworth

‘ I ’m going to be a millionaire,’ my son Junior, 9, announced. ‘Is that right?’ I said. He’d just watched a telly show about people who’d got rich quick and was inspired.

One bloke on the show had got his lucky break selling eggs.

‘I’m going to do that and make us loads of money!’ Junior told me excitedly.

He was always full of big ideas. I assumed this one would be quickly forgotten...

But over the next few days, he wouldn’t stop pestering me.

‘Please Mum! I really want to sell eggs!’ he begged.

Not wanting to discourage him, I gave in and rang some local shops.

I found a supplier in Derby called Betty’s Farm Shop and set up a Facebook page for Junior’s new business.

Me and his dad, Michael, 27, gave him £10 to get started.

He bought three trays of free-range eggs and got business cards printed with the name he came up with – Mr Free Range.

The first week was crazy. He sold 400 eggs just through the Facebook page!

Using profits from the eggs he’d sold, he bought more and turned that tenner into £100!

Not quite a million, but Junior wasn’t quitting. With a hit business on his hands, we came up with a system to make things easier. Every Tuesday is egg day. I drive the 25 miles to the farm shop and buy as many eggs as Junior needs for his weekly deliveries.

After school, he boxes up his orders and we load the car, then I drive him around and wait in the car while he drops off the eggs and gets his money.

He has more than 40 customers and sometimes it takes us four hours to get to everyone.

He sells a box of six for £2, a box of 12 for £3.50 and a tray of 30 for £6.

More expensive then you get in the supermarket, but these are premium, fresh farm eggs, and his customers are willing to pay for quality.

Every Monday after school, he figures out how many eggs he needs to buy for the next day, and what he’ll make.

My job is to make sure he’s safe. I don’t let him go on social media so I manage his Facebook

account and know who all his customers are. If anyone needs to contact him, they just call my mobile.

Junior set up the business in May and now, almost six months later, sells up to 700 eggs every week! He’s definitely reaping the rewards of his hard work.

He’s already splashed out £120 on a pair of trainers and a tracksuit, as well as a scooter and new Liverpool kit.

I make him save some money, too. Every week, he has to put between £20 and £50 in his bank account. He’s not allowed to touch it until he’s 21 – but if he carries on at this rate, he could make £13,000 a year!

Michael and I both run our own businesses. Michael has a removals company and I have my own cleaning business, so Junior’s seen us work hard for our money.

He’s a clever boy and is very switched on. He’s good at everything at school and is teaching his sister Lilah-rose, 4, about business!

I don’t think he’ll be in the egg business forever, but it’s a great start for him.

By selling eggs, Junior’s bringing home the bacon!
