With Dr Arabella Onslow

-

Dr arabella onslow has been a GP for 11 years and was rosemary Conley’s health Professional slimmer of the Year in 2012 after losing 10st. Clicking hip

QMy daughter has a ‘clicky’ hip and was sent for an X-ray at our local hospital, but we never heard any results. Does that mean there is nothing to worry about? Rachel, Dunstable

aIt could be that the report is lost rather than that there is nothing to report. Speak to your GP who’ll investigate, and, if the report is missing, will request a repeat test. You do need to find out the results.

Personality change

Qi’m really worried about my wife, who i feel has been undergoing a personality change recently. it’s very subtle, but i know her so well, and she just doesn’t seem her normal self. Les, Watford

aIt may be something very simple or nothing to worry about, but do see you GP to check. In rare cases, subtle personality changes can be an early sign of brain cancer.

statin advice

Qi recently had a health check, and was told that i’m on the threshold for considering statins to prevent heart attack or stroke. what does that mean statistically? Cheryl, Bishop’s Stortford

aIf your risk is on the treatment threshold, broadly, it means that if 100 people took statins for 10 years, four would be saved from a heart attack or stroke, 90 would have taken them unnecessarily, and six would still have a stroke or heart attack despite the statin.
