She murdered her friend over birthday sex betrayal
Four friends celebrated, but only three would leave the party alive…
The party was in full swing in a camper van parked next to a house in Prosser, Washington State. Amy Brown had turned 36 the weekend before, and now she was having birthday drinks with her fiancé Brandon Fayard, her friend Amanda Hill, 35, and Amanda’s boyfriend.
Laughter and chatter rang out as the foursome celebrated together.
It was the night of 9 February 2018.
Amy and Brandon ran a small business together that made soap, lip balm, body butter and scrubs.
On her website, Amy also described herself as a stay at home mum, caring for her two boys from a previous relationship, as well as Brandon’s three sons.
The couple had first met when they’d both worked in a local travel shop together years earlier.
Amanda had a teenage son, and the women had bonded over motherhood and also had a shared love of crafting.
Determined to make a better life for her son, Amanda was strong willed and hard working.
Amy was the same, which is why the pair were such good friends. They shared the same values.
As the night wore on, the clock struck midnight and Brandon told the group he was going back into the house to go to bed as he had work the next day.
Not long after, Amanda went inside to use the bathroom.
Something omething made Amy go into the house 20 minutes later, and when she got there, she made a shocking discovery.
She found her friend Amanda in bed with her fiancé Brandon.
The betrayal fuelled an almighty argument.
Amy left the house in a rage to go and have a cigarette outside.
Amanda went downstairs to see her… Not long afterwards, at around 12.45am, two loud gunshots fired out into the night air and echoed around the streets.
Ahorrified Brandon found Amy cradling a bleeding Amanda in her arms.
Amanda had been shot twice in the torso.
Brandon called 911, 911 and so did several neighbours who had heard the commotion and the gun fire.
When the emergency services arrived, there was nothing much they could do. Amanda was already dead.
How had the fun-filled birthday party turned into a violent bloodbath?
Amy was taken in for questioning, and admitted that she had shot and killed her friend.
But she insisted that it had been self defence, because Amanda had attacked her.
The mum described how she had made the shocking discovery of her friend and fiancé in bed together, and that after yelling and swearing at them, she’d gone outside for a smoke and to finish her drink.
The discovery was obviously devastating for her.
Amy said that Amanda had then come downstairs and had attacked her from behind, knocking her to the ground.
‘She knocked me on my face and I turned around and she was trying to, like, choke me,’ Amy was recorded saying to the police.
She described Amanda as having her hands on her face and neck.
‘I felt like she was trying to choke me,’ she continued.
