Stations to repair bikes set up across city

-

CYCLISTS in Portsmouth can now repair their bikes while out and about more easily.

Nine new repair stations, each equipped with basic tools and a pump, have been installed across the city allowing cyclists, wheelchair and pram users to inflate tyres and make repairs.

Councillor Lynne Stagg, Portsmouth City Council’s transport boss, said: ‘These repair stations are a welcome addition to the measures we are taking to encourage people to build cycling and walking into their daily lives, both for commuting and recreation.

‘I would like to thank the ward councillors who have provided funding for these repair stations. This will make a huge difference to people who need to access general bike, wheelchair or pram maintenance on the go or might be caught out in unavoidable situations, like a flat tyre or loose part.

‘We will keep talking to ward councillors in other areas to see if further locations can be identified in the future.’
