LANDLORD OF GOSPORT PUB PRAISES LOCAL MP FOR VISITING TO UNDERSTAND PUBLICANS’ PLIGHT
THE MP for Gosport has been praised by a local landlord for visiting his pub – and hopes she will stand up for the sector in Wesminster.
Landlord Zac Toms-Pearce praised MP Caroline Dinenage for visiting The White Horse Pub on Friday, September 18.
Zac said the MP ‘empathised’ with the plight of the sector, which has been hit by a series of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
He said: ‘It was good to talk to someone who could raise our issues in higher places, so to speak.
‘I 100 per cent think she understood what we have gone through, and she clearly wants to support more businesses that support the community.
‘Without community pubs and shops, there isn’t a sense of community.’
He added: ‘This year has been a challenge.
The 10pm curfew has hit us massively, but we’re always looking to adapt.’
Adapting includes plans to launch a new breakfast menu to be launched in the coming months, with the pub opening earlier to make up for the trade lost due to the cur few.
MP Caroline Dinenage said: ‘It was great to meet Zac and his team at The White
Horse Inn to see their stylish refurbishment and hear about the measures they’ve taken to keep customers safe.’
In September last year, the pub underwent a refurbishment costing more than £255,000, featuring new furniture, a pool table, and baby-changing facilities.
It is an Admiral Taverns establishment, with the pub chain owning more than 900 pubs across the UK.
