We need your help – have your say and shape the future

Citizens Advice Portsmouth wants to make sure they’re getting it right

- By Jan Thomas

Life is complicated – we can help. We’re part of a network of charities, a community. We provide free and confidential advice.

People rely on us because we’re independent and totally impartial.

Citizens Advice Portsmouth has always aimed to offer its residents and communities, an easily accessible, approachable, and broad ranging advice service but are we getting it right?

The Covid-19 pandemic is still forcing us all to re-evaluate, to change how we go about our daily lives and how we work.

As a result, it is also causing a significant increase in the number of requests we get for help.

We want to find out what the residents of Portsmouth would like to see and need the most from our service. It’s vital for us to obtain a detailed picture, to better understand you and your key needs now.

This would also help us to develop and deliver the best advice service possible for the future.

To do this, we have created a simple, quick survey to gather the information we need.

We have been very lucky to have had the help of two Royal Statistical Society

(RSS) statisticians, under the RSS ‘Statistics for Society’ pro-bono initiative.

We have been working closely to design and test the survey which we hope will give us the valuable insights, to help us to stay relevant and better understand your needs.

We won’t ask you for any personal information and the survey is completely anonymous.

Once we have gathered this information, we will only use it to help us to make future decisions.

Examples of the type of question you are likely to be asked are:

· How do you want to receive advice: face to face, over the phone or via webchat?

· What might stop you from seeking our advice with a problem?

· What sort of opening times would you like to see?

You can access the survey by going to surveymonkey. co.uk/r/3VPC5CR.

With the nights getting colder and darker we are all having to think about using more electricity and gas to light and heat our homes.

Citizens Advice Portsmouth has again this year obtained funding to run its Energy Advice Programme providing consumers with information and advice on energy matters.

Speak to our friendly advisers they can help you get a better deal from your existing energy supplier, change your energy supplier, apply for discounts and grants to help with the cost of your energy.
