COULD YOU HELP US BY BECOMING A VOLUNTEER?
You may be surprised to know that our national organisation has over 20,000 trained volunteers and we in Portsmouth have more than 20 working with us – but we always need more!
Citizen Advice volunteers come from a range of backgrounds and volunteer with us for different reasons.
Our roles are varied, challenging, and rewarding and our volunteers really enjoy being able to make a valuable contribution and a positive impact on people’s lives.
Here are stories of two more of our volunteers.
Jonathan: Following 35 years’ service as an army officer, I became Chapter
Clerk (Chief Operating Officer) of Portsmouth Cathedral for five years. Now that I am fully retired I find volunteering for Citizens Advice Portsmouth a very worthwhile and rewarding experience where I can continue to utilise my administrative experience and communication skills for the benefit of members of the public, who need advice and assistance.
Richard: I'm Richard,
I've been a generalist advice volunteer at Citizens Advice Portsmouth for over a year now. Previously I worked at IBM in Portsmouth for nearly 30 years administering the company pension plan, and on early retirement I wanted to find something that was useful to the community and gave me a bit of routine in my retirement life. Although there has been a lot to learn, the training and support Citizens Advice provides has always been excellent and I have found it a very positive experience which I would recommend to anyone wishing to help their local community.
