Dangerous pavements
When I was a very sensible, careful cyclist, I lived in fear of being run into from behind by other road-users.
Now, due to arthritis, I can no longer cycle and use a wheeled walker.
I now live in fear of being struck from all directions by bike-riders (they are not cyclists), e-scooters and even pietons (pedestrians) not looking where they are going.
I've taken to fitting flashing lights to my walking aid!
I have yet to see a cyclist jump the red lights at Havant - it would be suicidal. I know there are terrible bike riders but the cyclist continues to be (after years) the whipping boy for motorists.
I live on a busy, dangerous road in Leigh Park – 30mph is not fast enough for many motorists and vans. Over its three-quarter mile length, there is not one pedestrian crossing!
My theory is that a lot of traffic is using it as a rat-run between the
A3, A3M and Havant, Hayling and Chichester.
I frequently use my bus pass to cross my road safely – I continue on the 23 bus into central Leigh Park where there is a crossing with lights, get on the next 23 back and get off near my door.
The pavements are also in a dreadful state for us wheelies (please think on this bus pass-abolishers.)
As for e-scooters: I was nearly hit by one as I stepped out of my gate.
It is unbelievable that these idiotic things are being sanctioned by local authorities. They are not going to affect climate change one bit.
