How can they still be in denial?

What is it about seemingly intelligen­t adults who cannot accept the basic facts about Covid?

The more we mix, the more the ger m spreads – you don’t need to be one of the inexhausti­ble supply of professors to know this.

Yes, we equally all know that lockdowns are a nightmare, businesses go bust, people lose jobs, but it’s a simple choice: lockdown and infections and deaths are reduced, do not lockdown and the virus spreads.

Which is more important? I would hope that the massed ranks of lockdown haters – who cover all aspects of society, many distinguis­hed, educated and successful – could be assembled, photograph­ed and called to account if they get their way and put business before health.

Perhaps the perfect reality check for those wanting to ignore the dead and dying would be to drag them into the ITU wards to witness hundreds of adults fighting to breath (not all elderly) and witness dedicated nursing staff at risk of infection working tirelessly under huge pressure.

– it goes with the territory, the mentality and ambivalenc­e to nor mal interpreta­tion of sensible choice.
