Our app can give you real-time information about bus timetables
Recently Mrs J Scott appeared in the letters section to express her disappointment for not having a wider choice of services in the area where she lives.
While I appreciate Mrs Scott's view, for bus operators around the country the reality is that they need to balance the level of services they can provide with fluctuating levels of customer demand across their networks. For that reason we continually monitoring customer demand and allocate our finite resources to areas and at times where there is sufficient demand, which also happens to be between Mondays and Fridays.
I would like to suggest Mrs Scott gives our free First Bus smartphone app a try. A lot of effort went into making the app as user friendly as possible , which resulted in the app being awarded Travel App of the Year at the UK App Awards last month.
Not only does the app allow customers to check up-to-date bus times for a given bus stop from the convenience of their home, unlike the static timetables that are available on our website, on our printed flyers and at bus stops, the app shows the live location of buses and (in minutes) when they are due to arrive at the selected bus stop as the bus progresses its journey. It also shows how many seats are available and if the wheelchair space is in use or not. I sincerely hope Mrs Scott downloads the app.
Finally, I am pleased to hear Mrs Scott also applauds our drivers. I fully concur; in fact all our staff are doing an amazing job in keeping our towns and cities moving during these challenging times.
