Moneyfields bidding to shock division-higher Truro
Dave Carter reckons Moneyfields could be in with more of a chance of causing an FA Trophy shock against Truro City because of the 'non-elite' football suspension.
But the Moneys boss acknowledged his team still face a huge task if they are to upset one of the ' biggest clubs' to visit Dover Road tomorrow.
Moneyfields meet the division higher Southern League Premier South Cornwallbased side with a place in round two at stake.
Carter's side have already made history in this year's competition by reaching the first round proper for the first time ever.
But Moneyfields are now determined to continue breaking new ground in the FA Trophy.
The fixture represents Moneys' return to action after a five-week lay-off because of the month-long ' non-elite' football suspension.
Yet, Truro will not have played in 32 days when they arrive at Dover Road and face around a 450-mile round trip.
Carter views both of those factors, along with a potentially boggy pitch because of the wet weather in the build-up, as giving his side an increased chance to cause a shock.
‘The chances are the pitch is going to be wet and boggy and both sides haven’t going to have played for five weeks,' said the Moneys boss.
‘There are levellers there. The pitch not being the best because of the weather, there are going to be a lot of levellers that give us more of a chance.
‘It’s probably one of the biggest sides we’ve had down at Moneyfields.
‘We ’ve analysed what their strengths are but we’re not making it all about them because we’re a good side. We’ve got this far for a reason.’ No matter what the result it still promises to be a great occasion everyone at Moneyfields. The BT Sport Score cameras are heading down for the tie while the club are hoping for an attendance as close to the current 400 capacity they are permitted with social distancing in place. And boss Carter is relishing the return to competitive action. ‘Truro are a big club travelling across to us,' he added.
‘We're expecting a tough, tough game against Truro.
‘They’re probably one of the favourites to get promoted from the league above to get back into the National League South.
‘It’s very, very exciting.’
