Award for ‘vegan’ beauty therapist

Harriet offers range of treatments which all use cruelty-free products

-

A BEAUTY therapist who set up a business that is kind to all living things has won a top award.

Former Highbury College student Harriet Charter started a salon called Harriet Charter Beauty at her home in Londesborough Road, Southsea in February 2019.

The appointment-only salon offers a range of beauty treatments, from waxing to nails and eyelashes - all using vegan-friendly and crueltyfree products.

Her salon also offers eyebrow tinting, HD and Henna brows, plasma skin treatments and semi-permanent make-up.

Harriet has seen her business grow – and she was delighted to be named Beauty Therapist of the Year at the CorporateLiveWire South England Prestige Awards 2020, which were announced last month.

Harriet said: ‘It’s truly an honour to receive this award as an acknowledgement of the efforts I’ve made in growing my independent vegan beauty business.

‘It comes as a massive boost in these challenging times.

‘To be recognised for all the hard work and research that I've put into this business gives me such joy, and makes me feel that I’ve really made an impact on the industry.

‘Unfortunately of course the ceremony was cancelled due to everything happening this year, but I’m pleased to say it has been postponed to January at the earliest.

‘I simply cannot wait to receive my framed certificate, and display it proudly within my room.’

The award judges said they admired her passion and dedication to the use of organic, cruelty-free and 100 per cent vegan products and treatments.

And they were impressed by the salon’s state-of-theart equipment and that it presents an immediate sensation of tranquillity and calmness.

Harriet, who loves animals and has been a vegetarian since around age 10, put her win down to her friendly and comforting nature; and thanked her loyal and growing client base.

She hopes to see more businesses using cruelty-free and vegan product, to bring about a change in the industry.

Harriet said: ‘I have chosen to make the salon 100% vegan and cruelty free so that everyone can have peace of mind when visiting knowing that all the products used on you are not only kind to your skin, but animals too.’
