Mamas & Papas returns to Whiteley - after more than a year of closure
AFTER more than a year’s absence, nursery shop
Mamas & Papas has reopened its store at Whiteley
Shopping Centre.
The 4,500 sq ft store, which sells travel systems, nursery furniture, children’s clothing, toys and gifting items, opened its doors on December 2.
Mark Saunders, chief executive officer at Mamas & Papas, said: ‘We’re thrilled to be reopening our Whiteley Shopping Centre store.
‘When people return, they will definitely notice a few changes.
‘The whole team can’t wait to pick up where they left off with providing expert advice to new and expectant parents in the local community.’
Mamas & Papas was one of the original stores to open at Whiteley Shopping Centre when it opened in 2013.
However, the Whiteley branch was one of six stores closed in November 2019 when the nursery chain collapsed into administration.
Bluegem Capital, which has owned the business since 2014, bought the company assets through a pre-pack administration.
The unit remained empty until earlier this month.
Mamas & Papas celebrated the reopening by handing out complimentary goodie bags, worth £25 to the first 50 customers.
Mia Gordon, centre director at Whiteley, said: ‘We’re really pleased to be welcoming one of the UK’s best-loved brands back to Whiteley.
‘I’m sure Mamas & Papas will be a popular choice with our shoppers, especially in the run up to Christmas as they’re looking for special gifts for friends and family, or preparing for a new arrival themselves.’
As well as stocking a range of parenting essentials, the store will provide in-store services and experiences – including personal shopping appointments with trained advisors and a free car seat fitting service.
Four team members have returned to their roles, and Mamas & Papas has also recruited a further seven positions.
The store will be open from 10am until 7pm from Monday to Friday, 9am until 7pm on Saturdays and 10.30am until 4.30pm on Sundays.
