Farmfoods supermarket in Portsmouth reopens with a fresher look
EAGER shoppers flocked to a newly revamped supermarket in Portsmouth this weekend.
Farmfoods in Fratton Road, Fratton, reopened after a four-week refurbishment, which saw it extend into the former Maplin store next door.
The doors officially reopened on Saturday morning.
Store manager Ben Williams, who has worked at Farmfoods for 14 years, previously running its
Leigh Park store, said: ‘It was an excellent reopening.
‘It was really busy, we were really proud to be back serving our customers.
‘Everyone has been really positive, and everyone was saying how lovely it is, and how welcoming and bright it is now, and how much better it is than before.’
The supermarket has taken on an extra three members of staff and now has a larger space for customers to browse.
Ben, from Leigh Park, said: ‘It is more spaced out so it is easier to shop and to find our products, Everything about the refurb has been positive.
‘We were busy before we shut, but now we are double that. But we want to tell our customers that we are open and to come in and have a browse.
‘Farmfoods is the best supermarket as we provide the best customer service and the most competitive in price.’
The Scottish family-run supermarket business, which specialises in frozen food, also recently opened a new store at Collingwood Retail Park, in Newgate Lane, Fareham.
It has more than 300 stores, including Portsmouth, Fareham and Leigh Park, and four distribution centres nationwide.
The Portsmouth store now employs 17 staff.
