Another man-of-the-match award for Dan
Former Hampshire T20 winner Dan Christian collected another man of the match award as the Sydney Sixers defeated Adelaide to make it back-to-back Big Bash League triumphs.
The 37-year-old helped Hampshire lift their first
T20 crown on home soil a decade ago, and he was man of the match in both the semi-final and final when Nottinghamshire won the Blast two months ago.
Christian won his latest award with a blistering 16-ball half-century with five sixes and four fours.
That ferocious knock came after Hampshire skipper James Vince had been dismissed for a run-aball 19.
Christian helped the Sixers post 177-5, and he then bagged 1-25 off four overs as Adelaide were restricted to 139-7.
Vince had previously scored 17 as the Sixers recorded a record-breaking 145-run success against the Melbourne Renegades.
After rattling up 205-4, Sixers skittled their rivals for just 60 - with Hampshire batsman Rilee Rossouw out first ball.
Rossouw recovered to hit 59 off 40 balls against Hobart, but the BBL leaders chased their 158 target down with more than two overs in hand.
■ Former Petersfield CC captain Tim Jobling has passed away after a battle with prostate cancer. He was 74.
Tim was also a former Hampshire CCC treasurer who played club cricket for Winchester side Hyde Ramblers in 1970s before moving to Petersfield.
There he skippered their
Southern League side for three seasons between 1983 and 1985.
Hampshire Cricket chairman Rod Bransgrove said: ‘I first met Tim when he was working for Tenon in the 90s and hosting occasional relaxed working lunches with local businessmen.
‘He was on the Hampshire CCC Committee in 2000, when I first got involved with the club, and was the only committee member who voiced the full extent of his concerns about the true vulnerability of the business.
