RSPCA plea to house friends
A PAIR of ‘lovely’ dogs are looking for their dream home together as Stubbington Ark puts out its Christmas appeal for support.
Best friends Princess and Bridget, who do everything together, have had no interest from prospective adopters while staying at the RSPCA centre in Stubbington.
Little pup Princess is a terrier cross, while bigger pal Bridget is a lurcher.
The duo have lots of love to give but they will need plenty of support from their new owners.
Kirstie Blakeley, animal cenre manager, said: ‘ They are lovely girls but do have a few behavioural problems and might need to continue working alongside a behaviourist for the future.
‘They are seeing all of their friends leaving for their new homes and they are still here.
‘Bridget is a gentle giant and loves cuddles.
‘However she is super dopey and managed to run into a tree stump here and broke three bones in her foot!
‘This is all now fully healed and doesn't stop her at all.
‘Princess is a little more wary and takes time to bond with new people but once she knows you she is a super sweetheart too.’
After a tough year, Stubbington Ark has put out a Christmas appeal for support with donations and finding forever homes for the animals in its care.
The video appeal is called A Winter’s Tail, and follows a journey around the Stubbington Ark grounds with animals receiving the gifts of care, shelter, rescue and more.
Created, filmed and edited by staff and volunteers, the video ends with a message encouraging people to text TAIL to 70085 to give £10.
Alongside this, the branch would appreciate physical donations of food, toys and more.
Kirstie said: ‘ We always love high value training dog treats, fishy foods such as Applaws, tuna, mackerel fillets for all of the cats and of course toys for both cats and dogs.
‘Every year we create a Christmas stocking for all of the animals on site, something the staff love more than the animals I think!
‘So we fill these with toys and treats for all the animals.
‘The animals that do usually get forgotten though are the rabbits and small mammals such as our degus or guinea pigs.
‘They love fresh green veggies like spinach and kale but also things that they can gnaw on.’
