IN THE COURTS
DEFENDANTS at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court have been sentenced for their crimes.
■ William Verbeeten, 27, of Kings Road, Southsea, admitted having an offensive weapon, a knuckle duster, in Station Street on July 30.
Magistrates imposed an 18-month conditional discharge with a £22 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
An order was made to destroy the weapon.
■ Ricky Fowler, 33, of Hulbert Road, Leigh Park, admitted damaging a Kia Picanto on February 26, 2019.
Magistrates fined him £80 with £250 compensation and £30 surcharge to pay.
■ Ashley Young, 37, of
Harvest Gate Walk, Leigh Park, admitted driving a Ford Transit van while banned in Boarhunt Road, Fareham, on July 21 in 2019.
Magistrates fined him
£500 with a £67 surcharge.
Magistrates imposed six points on his licence, and fined him £166 after he admitted failing to turn up to court on August 6, 2019.
■ Glen Stride, 28, of Heath Road, Locks Heath, admitted being in charge of a motor vehicle while over the drinkdrive limit.
A test revealed he had 82 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.
Stride was fined £392 with a £39 surcharge and £85 costs.
Magistrates imposed 10 points on his driving licence.
■ Bahram Mradian, 35, of London Road, Hilsea, admitted drink-driving on the A27 slip road to Eastern Road in Portsmouth on June 20 last year.
A breath test revealed he had 108 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order with 100 hours' unpaid work.
He must pay a £95 surcharge and was banned for 18 months.
■ Richard Eade, 29, of Beaconsfield Road, Waterlooville, admitted raciallyaggravated assault in Portsmouth on February 23.
Magistrates fined Eade £300 with a £32 surcharge and £85 costs.
Eade also admitted assault by beating and must pay £200 compensation.
He also admitted raciallyaggravated threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour.
■ James Craig, 34, of Curzon Howe Road, Portsea, admitted damaging a glass window at Two Saints mental health service in Portsmouth on September 21, and two charges of assault by beating.
Magistrates imposed a 26-week jail term suspended for two years with 30 days' rehabilitation activities.
Craig must pay £1,600 compensation, a £128 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
