The attack on the US Capitol proves how fragile democracy is
THE alarming scenes of ‘protesters' storming the Capitol Building in Washington is a warning to everyone just how fragile democracy is and what happens when the losing side, encouraged by their political leaders, collectively decides to ignore the result of an election.
The similarities in the behaviour of
Donald Trump and certain UK politicians during and after the Brexit referendum and the behaviour of the SNP after the ‘once in a generation’ referendum on Scottish independence is there for all to see.
I just hope those same UK politicians and the EU take a good hard look at what happens in a democratic society when people decide to ignore the majority vote and incite others to do the same thing.
It's been said thousands of times because it's true – democracy doesn't work like that.
The Nazis are a warning from history and they are still around today in various guises, just like the Stalinists and the Marxists.
It's a warning that we increasingly seem to ignore and one we are likely to repeat all over again, especially in China which is already using the methods of the Nazis in internment camps, followed very quickly by the concentration camps, with the Chinese adopting a program of forced sterilisation of women from ‘undesirable’ groups in order to eliminate that segment of the population low voice the music drowns him out and it completely spoils the programme. Why do we need to have any music/ noise?
I suppose they will say it enhances the programme, but with the type of programmes Sir David Attenborough makes it is just not needed.
I do wonder sometimes if the programme makers have to have music in these programmes to satisfy the musicians union.
So please can we have less music, perhaps a little at the beginning and some at the end but let’s hear the natural noises and the voiceovers, that way we all can enjoy these programmes.
