Housing is the key
It seems to me the large number of parents applying for key-worker status for child attendance at schools is due to two factors.
One – bosses have realised how much furloughing staff eats into their profits and don’t want staff off to look after children.
Two – successive governments of all parties have allowed the housing market to be inflated to the point where two parents have to both work to be able to afford even the smallest mortgage, and to achieve this those parents use schools as if they were a creche.
That's fine until this sort of situation occurs!
