Entertain me
Am I alone in thinking that there is a paucity of TV entertainment in comparison to the output of reality and quiz shows, and also that it is of a very low calibre.
Growing up with entertainment produced by artists who learnt their trade in variety theatres or even in ENSA during the Second World War, I was spoilt seeing such genuinely talented performers.
In addition to the mainstream broadcasters turning out dross, the ‘on demand’ channels appear to show very little for anybody over about 15 years of age.
Even the soaps and advertising have become Dr Goebbels’ dream machines, broadcasting only ‘woke’ storylines.
The BBC is busy censoring old programmes eg a Dad’s Army episode had Warden Hodge warning someone that there is a ‘chink’ in their blackout curtains, this is considered offensive language.
Censoring Dad`s Army must be almost on a par with blue-lining parts of the King James Bible.
Whilst I crave for entertainment and not preaching at this grim time, I really cannot decide whether I am hypercritical, living in the past or an alien.
