Following in Kane’s footsteps, Spurs man in good hands under Jackett

-

HARVEY White knows he's going to be in good hands at Pompey.

The on-loan Tottenham midfielder is well aware of what Kenny Jackett has done for one of the world's best striker in his career.

At 19, White is the same age as when Harry Kane left Spurs to be under the tutelage of Jackett in the 2011-12 season.

When Jackett was in charge of Millwall, the England captain scored seven goals in 22 appearances.

White's not directly spoken to Kane about the impact the Blues boss had on him – but he has another ex-Tottenham man.

Ryan Mason spent time at the Lions the same campaign as Kane, playing five times.

Now Spurs’ under-19s coach, White chatted with Mason about Jackett.

And it convinced him to move to Fratton Park.

White said: ‘I have never spoken to Harry about it but I know he went to Millwall on loan and made 22 appearances.

'It's all about working hard and I spoke to Ryan Mason as well because he has worked under Kenny. ‘I talked to him about the situation and he spoke very highly.

‘He told me that he is a top manager and that I will learn a lot from him and his players.

‘I've learned a lot training with the first team at Spurs and playing in the under-23s. Now I want to to try to stamp my mark on league football.’

Jackett had a spell coaching at Tottenham's academy before taking charge ofPompeyalthough White was a couple of years too young to work with him.

But the England youth international fondly remembers his outing for

Spurs under-21s at Fratton Park two seasons ago. He netted a superb freekickina3-2Blueswininthe Checkatrade Trophy.

White added: ‘I knew about Kenny and who he was, but I was a bit too young to work with him.

'I was in the under-14s or under-15s but I played at Fratton Park in the Checkatrade Trophy, so as soon as I found out they were interested I was looking things up about their players.’
