Grade II property closed due to lack of funding and drop in donations

AN HISTORIC home in the village of Titchfield is being sold by a breast cancer charity after it was forced to withdraw its services.

Breast Cancer Haven used the Grade II property for five years, from 2015, as a base to provide support to people suffering with the disease.

During its time there, it attracted support from several celebrities including actress Liz Hurley, actors David Tennant and Timothy West, plus many others.

However last year the national charity said it was closing the centre, due to lack of funding and a 50 per cent drop in donations due to the pandemic.

The centre shut last summer and is now on the market with Knight Frank for £875,000.

Caroline Hoffman, clinical and research director at the charity, said: ‘We loved being in that building but sadly with the difficulties charities like ours are facing we have had to move our services online.

‘Everybody who came into that centre fell in love with the building.

‘It has given a lot of joy and comfort to people over the years. We are very sad to see the building go. It is beautiful.’

However she added that the charity still continues its work online.

She said: ‘‘We may be selling the building in Titchfield but we are still here for people who need our support, please call 0300 0120112 or e-mail support@breastcancer. org.uk.’

The terrace property is listed as having five to six bedrooms, five reception rooms, and a courtyard garden.

It is in The Square, Titchfield, in the centre of the village. The listing says: ‘This attractive Grade II listed house is situated in the heart of the sought after village of Titchfield.

‘The property has commercial use but subject to obtaining residential use the house can be transformed into a family home.

‘There are many period features throughout such as exposed beams and open fireplaces.

‘The ground floor accommodation comprises a variety of generous reception rooms.

‘There is a spacious kitchen which flows through to an impressive room with full height vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, a dining room with double doors out to the courtyard, a utility room, pantry and several cloakrooms.

‘The space represents a great opportunity for someone to reconfigure and make their own.

‘On the first floor there are four rooms ideal for use as bedrooms and there is a cloakroom.

‘On the second floor there are two further rooms which could be used as bedrooms or office space. There is also potential for a one bedroom self-contained annexe.

‘There is an integral double garage and permit parking. To the rear there is a pleasant courtyard garden with a raised terrace and a pond.

‘The outside space has well stocked beds and provides a private area for al fresco dining.'

Knight Frank agent Toby Gullick said the house was a great buy.

He added: ‘The house is fully available, and the owners are very keen to sell.

‘There is no chain on the house, as it’s now empty.'

The property is listed at £875,000. For more go to knightfrank.co.uk or email Toby.Gullick@knightfrank. com or call 07796 306 070.
