Jackett’s back at helm after rapid recovery

-

KENNY JACKETT will return to his management role full-time this week after his surprise Blackpool appearance.

And his assistant manager has paid tribute to Jackett’s resolve and determination to make Pompey a success.

The 59-year-old was present at Fratton Park for the 1-0 defeat on Saturday – just two days after undergoing surgery to remove a mole from his arm.

Jackett was expected to be away from duties for at least a fortnight to recuperate.

His No2, Joe Gallen, said: ‘That’s him. He’s back. He’s back in on Monday – and away we go on Tuesday.

‘I did say he’d be back sooner rather than later but he has surprised me.

‘Health is everything. It’s when something happens you think “wow”.

‘We all get caught up in our own worlds and we’re concentrating here on winning games.

‘But then something like that happens. Wow. Let’s be honest, it would play on your mind. It would me.

‘But he’s back fit and healthy with the all-clear.

‘With Kenny, whatever football club he works for, he gives it everything he’s got.

‘His whole time and being is to make Portsmouth successful. That’s what he’s going to do.’

Gallen confirmed Jackett’s surgery went as planned and with no issues afterwards.

He should take his position in the dugout at Oxford United tomorrow night.

Gallen added: ‘I did think he’d be back sooner than everyone thought, but this soon? No, but there you go.

‘He looked normal and fine. The operation was a success and that was the main thing.

‘He’s got the all-clear on everything and that’s great news.

‘But he’s back, fit and healthy.’
