WHAT IS WE CAN DO IT?

-

The We Can Do It campaign is our way of making sure the good news in our area is recognised and reported.

Newspapers often get accused of featuring ‘bad’ news – but we know that every day there are people out there busy raising money, making a difference to their communities and helping others.

Each Friday on this page we pledge to run positive stories which show the We Can Do It spirit in action. But we need you to help us highlight the good work of people who deserve such recognition.

Getting involved is easy – just use the e-mail address to let us know who you are nominating and why.

The 10 We Can Do It categories are: Best Street, Best Business, Best Volunteer, Best School, Spirit of Youth, Service With A Smile, Best Garden, Care of the Environment, Best Art/Community Project and Personal Achievement.

A number of events each year fall under the We Can Do It banner.

They include our One Summer’s

Day, One Christmas Day and Bloomin’ Marvellous competitions.

The culmination of the We Can Do It campaign comes at the end of each year with our We Can Do It Awards ceremony.

This newspaper is built on a tradition of accuracy and fairness, giving you the information you need to understand our world, holding power to account and exposing injustice.

Our trusted brand means we are the only place where you can read and participate in honest debates. We are committed to giving a voice to those who struggle to be heard as well as those whose profession is crafting an argument.

Our Readers’ Charter spells out our commitment to you. You can read the Charter online at portsmouth.co.uk
