Jackett admits he has had no Morris contact since exit
Duo to be reunited at Sixfields but midfielder set to miss out
KENNY JACKETT has admitted he hasn’t spoken to Bryn Morris since his Northampton switch.
And the midfielder will not be facing Pompey on Saturday under terms of the loan arrangement.
Morris has featured 10 times for the League One strugglers since his January move.
Despite the dismissal of boss Keith Curle three weeks after his arrival, the former England youth international has remained a regular starter.
Morris endured a wretched time at Pompey, largely dictated by injury, to prompt him to seek an exit in the last transfer window.
But he’ll have to sit out on Saturday as the relegationthreatened Cobblers entertain the club he is still contracted to.
Jackett said: ‘Bryn’s on loan from us, so is not available for Northampton on Saturday.
‘He wanted to get more game time and has had a high number of matches so far as they try to retain their League One status.
‘I haven’t seen him or spoken to Bryn (since he went there).
‘Although I have watched quite a few of Northampton’s games in the run up to it and think he has fitted in quite well there.
‘There’s a time when somebody just wants to move on and we understand that. Northampton has been – and will be – a good opportunity for him.
‘The fact we made him available and had quite a number of clubs interested in him in League One says plenty.
‘Like everybody, he will be wanting to play regular football to get into the rhythm to produce his best form.’
Morris made 28 appearances and scored once after arriving from Shrewsbury in January 2019.
However, despite handed a regular run at the start of this season, he failed to impress sufficiently to retain his place.
Morris is out of contract in the summer, while, in this instance, the club do not hold an option.
Jackett added: ‘Injuries played a big part with Bryn, he spent long spells on the sidelines, yet he did show promise and good games when he came in.
‘However, Pompey is a good club and the competition for places is high.
‘We’ll see if he plays for Pompey again, it very much depends how he goes and how things go for us in terms of our midfield.’
