Bringing joy

- Helen Sherwood Gosport

No, they are not somebody's garden, but everybody's garden HELEN SHERWOOD

I would like to respond to Kev

May's letter of March 2, when he responded to JK Palmer's Trampled

Underfoot letter of February 24.

He berates JK Palmer about the need to write in and complain about irresponsible behaviour and the destruction of the flowerbeds along the seafront.

He states that this is a minor irritant in the big plan of things.

I can assure Mr May that these flowerbeds consisting of daffodils and crocuses are exactly what is needed in the present situation.

They are a joy to behold and are not wild flowers as he suggested but bulbs which have been planted by the council and look absolutely stunning.

No, they are not somebody's garden, but everybody's garden and I personally, having been isolating for what seems to be forever, to be able to go for a drive along the seafront where I live, and see this beautiful display lifts my heart and I am sure many others.

The crocuses, of all colours, are a joy to behold and gives people a lift in these dark times.

There is plenty of space there for people to sit and kids to play ball without trampling on the beauty of the display.

Why do you think people are taking to gardening and sitting out in their gardens? It’s because no matter what happens, the beauty of nature will still prevail no matter what, and it gives people a lift to see this glorious display.

All I can say is if you havenotseenitandyou are local to Gosport and Lee-on-The-Solent, have a drive or a walk along, beforethedisplayis over, and I am sure you will be lifted in spirit asIwasandthankyou to, I presume, Fareham Borough Council for planting them in the first place.
