Changes to bin collection days

-

A HANDFUL of bin collection dates in Portsmouth are being changed next week by the city council.

From Monday, March 15, the rubbish and recycling days will change for households in east Farlington, around Fratton Park, east Southsea and Somers Town.

The changes have been made for operational reasons, according to Portsmouth City Council, and households affected by the alterations will have had a letter posted through the door to explain them.

Highland Road, Ashling

Lane, Cotton Road and Somers Road are just some of the affected addresses.

Cllr Dave Ashmore, cabinet member for environment and climate change, said: ‘We are continuing to work hard to maintain our rubbish and recycling services for Portsmouth residents during the pandemic and keep the city running.

‘The collection date changes affect only a small number of properties in Portsmouth.

‘Please continue to assist our crews by ensuring your bins are out, ready for collection by 7am on your scheduled collection day.

‘We also ask that residents park considerately on collection days so bin lorries can access all streets and properties.’

The street cleaning days have also been adjusted to take place the day after collection.

The city council believes this will lead to a cleaner city overall.

I have watched Pompey for

60-plus years, so many ups and downs, but now we have a manager who says it is his best squad in his three year tenure, and we are in freefall.

Our current form would get us relegated.

I could not have a boss like him – not an ounce of passion, and sadly now poor team selection. Sadly your assistant is in the same mould, no passion or hope of how this team can turn the corner. Hard work is essential, but this is no good in isolation. What have you done to the team to drag them down to this level?

Kenny Jackett, this is your team, and you have been heavily backed up by the Eisner family.

I feel very sorry for the Eisners, and as a fan can say we are so lucky to have their financial backing. So please Mr Eisner can I say KJ has lost the plot and like so many, the sooner he goes the better.

Why can Jimmy Floyd and Steve Cotterell do so well on a shoe string but KJ, with all your backing, be in charge of a lifeless team? No more please – line up next season's replacement, Mr Eisner. There are good candidates around – we are a big club in a poor league.
