It’s not easy being green

-

I fully agree and support anything that will help reduce our carbon footprint and help Mother Earth rejuvenate herself.

One idea put forward, is to use an alternate form of transport, like the bus. That’s a grand idea.

But as it is, a simple journey of a few stops already requires the use of a bank card an alternate to cash. So what happens once the bus services have the monopoly? What a surprise, the fares will go up.

An example would be similar to when Southern Vectis squeezed out all the smaller bus companies on the Isle of Wight.

What about electric cars, scooters and bikes?

That's the way forward, or is it ?

At the moment what electric cars we do have pose no threat to supplies, but what happens when tens of thousands of electric cars want to be plugged in and charged up at night?

Can you imagine the massive that surge that will hit the national grid? It could cause a black out.

It's a bit like cup finals when all the electric kettles are plugged in at half time for tea.

So will there be sufficient power supplies from the wind farms, solar panel farms and power stations?

Many of those will require fossil fuel to run, unless nuclear power is used.

But how many nuclear power stations will be required to generate enough power to avert a massive overload to the national grid? How do we keep our nation humming along smoothly?

But what concerns me most, is how will farm machinery adapt to electric?

How big will the batteries need to be for a combine harvester? Although we could go back to using horses, which offer a by-product…

But I'm sure the Greenies will find something to moan about!
