Gratitude for our ‘unsung heroes’

-

WE asked what you would like to say to NHS frontline staff as we mark one year since the start of the first lockdown.

Praise and gratitude shone through as the main messages from the community, with Carol Bailey saying: ‘A great big thank you for your hard work, people do not realise what you did going beyond your usual work to save the lives of the patients, God bless you all.’

Jean Hanson said: ‘You all deserve a medal for the unending dedication you have shown, could not have coped with

Covid without you and the hardships you have overcome saving lives.’

Pamela Joyce Thomas and Ethel Ackerman both wanted to give their thanks to more than just our NHS staff.

Pamela said: ‘What words can you say to our NHS heroes, retail staff heroes, carers heroes, emergency workers heroes, no words.’

Ethel added: ‘To all people who have worked selflessly through the lockdown, thank you. So many unsung heroes.’

Some of you recognised the sacrifices and adversity faced by frontline staff, who have given so much throughout the pandemic.

Carole Mears said: ‘I am so sorry you had to go through all the sadness, heartache, trauma and stress because of the way this pandemic was handled.

‘You did the decent thing and stood your ground in the face of relentless adversity, you cared for strangers with the passion you would bestow on a child and many of you paid the ultimate price.

‘Thank you will never be enough but you have my gratitude.’
