E-scooter problems The
I completely agree with others who have commented on the e-scooter issue. Having already encountered them on the pavement, yesterday it happened again.
I was waiting at a zebra crossing for a car to stop, when eventually it did on the opposite side of the road, I stepped out only for a man on an e-scooter to go zooming across. He was also on the other side and went straight past the car already there.
I admit I did say something out loud but he just ignored me seeing as he was already out of hearing. I am afraid that there will be a serious accident before very long with either a pedestrian, road user or indeed the rider themselves being badly hurt.
They are available to hire in
Kingston Road and all were rented out during this week. Seeing as this has been the vicinity of my other near misses with them, I am worried that this may be a regular event from now on.
The city council need to look into the safety issues immediately, not just give it the go ahead and let the inevitable happen. I suppose they will say they have but surely
I don’t want anyone ending up badly hurt and also with no way of getting the rider held to account S HUSSEY
the public need protection on the pavements – where else are we supposed to walk after all?
Of course the other issue here is they are unidentifiable, the same as some cyclists who demand the use of the pavements and have caused serious accidents or very nearmisses.
Having experiences with both, I don’t want anyone ending up badly hurt and also with no way of getting the rider held to account. All I have received is a ‘sorry’ or foul
