Who do you trust?
It’s now time for local electors to select the people they wish to represent them in the positions available in either the police commissioner for Hampshire, county, city or local borough councils.
Who should we trust to represent us?
We have had a year of turmoil caused by the Covid pandemic and the ineptitude of the government through a failing of understanding at the beginning of what a deadly disease was starting to spread throughout Europe. Yet now we have the ruling Conservatives boasting that all is safe in their hands after the year of turmoil because they have the vaccine, the cure to end all illness.
I truly hope that does go some way to reducing the spread of this awful virus.
I would like to think that the electorate would look at what has happened and been done in their name by the Conservative government who every week were ignoring the scientific advice being given because it might affect the economy. Well, we all know what happened!
Unlike several of your correspondents who have been regular supporters of the government and have made ill-thought insults to others who dare to disagree, I decided some time ago that there was only one way for me to go and that is practise what I was preaching and work for the issues I care for: ‘I am a Green Christian, so I will be standing for election to the local council as for the Green Party in Fareham West.’
I will happily continue to work for improved access to local hospitals for people without a car. And for improved recycling that does not end up in the incinerator, and for justice for the homeless and continue my support for the Refugee Project to bring a family from one of the camps in Syria to Fareham.
The Greens share my ideals towards the environment, climate change, and justice and peace and their progressive policies are so different to all the other old parties making up policy as they go.
