The Airport Service Road scheme proposes the erection of a new 20-metre mast opposite the junction with Dundas Lane and is submitted by its parent company Hutchison CK Network UK Ltd.

The second application was submitted by MBNL and would introduce 5G technology while also improving the existing 4G connection.

‘The existing operational telecommunications site is due to be upgraded ,’ its application says .‘ The proposed developmentwill be 5 G-ready and will allow the provision of new cutting-edge coverage for two major mobile operators to the area.’

Deadline soft he end of June have been set for reaching decision son the two schemes.

In January plans to install a 5G mast in Southsea were refused by the council.
