Havant MP organises second Health and Wellbeing Fair
The Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdowns that occurred made us all more aware of the importance of good mental and physical health.
This was the driving force behind me deciding to organise my first Health & Wellbeing Fair at Emsworth Baptist Church last year.
The fair was a terrific success for everyone involved, with over 35 local charities, healthcare organisations, businesses and community groups exhibiting and a great many residents attending.
Tomorrow I am organisa ing my second annual Health & Wellbeing Fair at the same venue, Emsworth Baptist Church.
The event will run from from 10am-1pm.
My fair will again bring together local charities, the National Health Service and other healthcare bodies, plus range of local voluntary organisations.
The Emsworth and Hayling Island Primary Care Network will also be on hand to provide free blood pressure checks, while members of the Emsworth Medical Practice will be there too to help lend a hand.
I am particularly pleased to welcome Emsworth Medical Practice to the fair as I helped lead the campaign for the brand new GP surgery to be built at the site of the old Emsworth Victoria Cottage Hospital.
In 2018, I personally intervened to help stop the sale of the site, arguing that its central location would be an ideal location for the proposed surgery.
Then I helped organise and also chaired a series of meetings to push the project forward,
These meetings were able to secure £3.5m of government funding from NHS England.
And in 2021 cut the ribbon to officially open the new surgery.
With England taking on Australia in cricket's Ashes series in June, I'm providing free St George’s flags to show your support.
Union flags are also available as we look forward to a big sporting year, from Wimbledon to the Rugby World Cup.
