Only, you can’t buy an Erbauer charger independently – it’s not available on its own. Batteries can be bought separately (£19.99 for a 2.0Ah battery, £49.99 for a 4.0Ah one), but to acquire a charger – and get two 2.0Ah batteries thrown in – you’ll have to buy the Erbauer Cordless Drill Driver for £69.99. This also means you get a ‘free’ cordless drill even if you don’t particularly need it. On the upside, this particular cordless drill did win the PBO Best on Test accolade in our cordless drill test of May 2016.

When you finally get your Erbauer grinder up and running you’ll find its smaller 2.0Ah batteries and slightly smaller physical size equate to a weight of 1.92kg, lighter than the other models, which can be an advantage if you’re using it a lot.

Its 8,800rpm no-load speed is significantly slower than the others, but that didn’t seem to affect things on the rig-cutting test. The box (don’t get excited, it’s only cardboard) includes two disc guards – a wide one for thick grinding discs, abrasive wheels and wire brushes, and a thinner one for thinner discs. Attachment of the guard is by lever and cam – a useful feature, because there are no other tools to get lost.
