TRIUMPHANT RETURN The two yachts undertaking the 2017 Sail4Macmillan Round Britain challenge have completed their circumnavigation, raising nearly £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Research. The crews received a rapturous reception at Fambridge Yacht Haven as they touched land, having sailed over 2,000NM, suffering one major breakdown in the process.
Organised by Colin Stracey of Premier Sailing, whose son James has made a full recovery from bowel cancer, the challenge aimed to raise vital funds for the charity. Paying crew were invited to sign up for voyage legs or the entire seven-week trip.
Yacht Havens supported the event by providing free berthing at Largs, Troon, Neyland, Plymouth, Lymington and Fambridge in addition to giving the crews donations at each site.
