B&G V20/Simrad RS20 VHF radio

-

Simrad and B&G have launched a new VHF radio. We say ‘a radio’ as it’s the same product packaged under two different brand names: The B&G V20 and the Simrad RS20. This Class D digital selective calling (DSC) marine VHF radio is designed to cater for a variety of boats from small RIBs to larger cruisers. It is NMEA 2000-compatible and features a high-contrast, black-on-white display that is promised to be clearly visible in bright sunlight. Night-time visibility has also been optimised, with an inverted white-on-black night mode to reduce light emission and preserve night vision. A rotary dial makes channel selection easy, while large buttons provide quick access to all key functions, even with gloves on. A dedicated Ch16 key is included on both the radio’s front panel and its four-button fist mic, giving boaters instant access to the emergency channel. An integrated distress button allows automated DSC distress calling. Table-top, overhead or bulkhead installation is possible with an included gimbal bracket. Flush-mount installation is also supported, with a front-mount solution. Priced at £280. ■ www.simrad-yachting.com ■ www.bandg.com
