8 Solway View Caravan and Camping Site
This small, family-run, eco-friendly site has stunning views across the Solway Firth, so if you stay here you’ll be waking up to the beauty of this enchanting part of the country. The lane approaching the farm can be a little narrow (this is Scotland, so there are passing places), but the spectacular setting is a just reward once you get there.
The pitches have level hardstanding bases, with grass for awnings or pup tents, a picnic bench and electric hook-up, and they all benefit from the sea views. The modest, well-kept facility block houses two showers, two toilets, baby changing facilities and hairdryers. The facilities all have easy access. Solar power is used to heat the water and Tina the Turner (their wind turbine!) supplies the electricity.
These eco-friendly credentials reflect the organic-friendliness of the site and the calm that will help you to relax throughout your stay. Other facilities include a nature trail, farm and woodland walks, a children’s play area, a cooking hut with washing-up sinks, a washing machine at reception and a drying tent. Guests are also welcome to have campfires, with firewood available.
Away from the site, the towns of Gatehouse of Fleet, Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas are all nearby.
