DON’T FORGET TO CHECK WHEEL STUDS!

In your Spotlight on pre-season checks (March issue, p99) I note there is no mention of checking that the wheel studs are tight. After a recent incident with my twin-axle Buccaneer Caravel losing the front nearside wheel, advice received said that I should have checked the wheel studs. However, the NCC Approved Workshop website FAQS state that if the service centre torques the wheel studs correctly, there should be no problems. There also appears to be conflicting data as to when you should check the wheel studs, for example, after 20, 25 or 50 miles, or before every trip.
