WHEN TO GO

September is a great time to visit the Gers. The weather is still good and the French summer holidays are at an end.

WAY TO GO

■ Camping La Brouquere From Calais, take the A16 to Abbeville and the A28 to Rouen. Follow signs through Rouen for the A13, signposted Paris. Just south of Rouen, turn on to the A154/N154 to Evreux and Nonancourt. Where the road meets the N12, turn east to Dreux and then go back on the N154 around Chartres to meet the A10 at Artenay. Follow the A10 to Orléans and then the A71 south to Vierzon and the A20 to Limoges, Brive-la-gaillarde and Montauban. Just south of Montauban, take the A62, signposted Bordeaux. Leave the motorway at Agen. Take the D931 to Condom. Go through the town and continue on the D931 to Gondrin. At the end of the village, turn left on to the D113, direction Courrensan and Vic-fezensac. After 300 metres, take the left curve, following the D113. After leaving Gondrin, turn left on the first small road, direction Ferme du Cassou. Follow this road for 900 metres and turn right at the next small crossroads.
